What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a form of body work that uses light touch to help relieve tension in the body.  It can be helpful for both acute and chronic pain anywhere in the body, including TMJ issues, headaches, whiplash, shoulder pain, etc., and can also reduce anxiety and promote deep relaxation.

What can I expect during a Craniosacral Therapy session?

At your first session, I will have you read and sign the Client Bill of Rights.  In all sessions, I will talk with you briefly about what brings you to the session, and take note of any changes since last session.

Then you will lie on a massage table in a private room, fully clothed.  I have blankets available if you should need them.  I will have quiet music playing, and low lighting to enhance relaxation.

I will place my hands on your body and spend a few minutes connecting with your body.  I work intuitively, so I use this time to listen to what your body wants/needs from the session.  Sometimes the location of pain or injury is not the first place I start working on your body, so don’t be surprised if I do not go straight to the site of your pain; I will get there!  There may be periods of time where my hands rest on one place on your body and it seems like I am not doing anything.  During these times, I am either waiting to get more information from your body, or I am waiting for your body to complete an unwinding or balancing process.

During the session, you are welcome to be silent, or to talk to me .  You may want to tell me what you are feeling in your body, or share with me any thoughts that are coming to you.  Or you may just drift off into quiet, deep relaxation, or even fall asleep.
